Based off of other stories of children with encephaloceles, research I have done and my own experience with Thomas, some form of vision impairment is common with encephaloceles. Encephaloceles in the Occipital region of the brain would most likely cause a vision issues. The first few months of life, Thomas couldn't even track. Then, with weekly vision therapies, he began to progress. Slowly but, it was happening. In March of 2019 we were told by his Ophthalmologist that Thomas could probably only see light. Then in October of 2019 the same doctor said there were no vision issues at all. So much played a part in his vision journey. ( Our trip to Lourdes definitely played a part in this too) Here are some resources that have helped Thomas. I am not saying they will absolutely fix or heal vision issues. They are just some things that helped my son.
Weekly Vision Therapy through Early Intervention
Daily Vision Exercises suggested by Vision Therapist
Hey Bear Sensory videos on Youtube. (Awesome videos. Thomas LOVED them)
